KSANA
Las Compuertas, Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza

"New winery with excellent results." -Wine Spectator

Ksana refers to the Buddhist idea of infinity in an instant. Likewise, we believe at the moment of tasting a wine, one experiences its vineyard's history and winemaking process. The correct combination of these is what will make a wine last in your memory forever.
The Ksana wines are unfiltered; malolactic fermentation occurs in the oak; and indigenous yeasts are used to express the terroir. The vineyard is very densely planted (7,900 plants per hectare) with very low production per vine (0.6-1.1 kg); this adds to the wines' ultra-concentration. The Ksana winery and estate 90 year-old vineyard is located in Las Compuertas, Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza. The winemaker is Héctor Durigutti and the vineyard manager is Marcela Gonzalez Riesgo.

Ksana Malbec
88 points ('07), Wine Spectator:
"Solid, with blackberry and fig fruit laid over ripe, well-integrated tannins, followed by a long, cocoa- and loam-dusted finish. Very solid."

Ksana Bonarda
88 points ('07), Wine Spectator:
“Ripe and round, with inviting plum, chocolate and spice notes allied to a fleshy, mouthfilling frame. Drink now.”

Ksana Malbec Reserva
92 points ('06), Wine Spectator:
“Very ripe, but also superfresh, with velvety texture and a long, beguiling palate of fig sauce, melted licorice, Turkish coffee, macerated currant and blackberry fruit. Long and dense on the finish, but pure and vivid. Drink now through 2011. 250 cases made.”
12 months in second use French oak barrels.

Ksana Malbec Gran Reserva
93 points ('04), Wilfred Wong:
“A real Wow! wine, the full bodied '04 Ksana Gran Reserva Malbec provides full flavor satisfaction on the palate; superb black fruit flavors abound and last long in the aftertaste.”
24 months in new French oak barrels. Decanting recommended.
