LAGAR DE BEZANA
Alto Cachapoal, Rapel Valley, Chile
Top Scoring Wines from an Exciting Chilean Terroir
Alto Cachapoal is a stunning Chilean micro-terroir within the Rapel Valley. The climate is Mediterranean, the soils are alluvial, and the altitude is 2,000 feet. Wines from Alto Cachapoal have intense color and aromatic concentration, a bright acidity, and restrained tannins.
At Lagar de Bezana we only produce a limited amount of wine from our single vineyard located in Alto Cachapoal in the foothills of the Andes Mountains. We believe that making wines is an art, which is represented through the drawings on our labels by famous Chilean artist Bororo. Lagar de Bezana was started in the 1990s by Ricardo Bezanilla; the winemakers are Cristobal Undurraga and Meinard Bloem. The modern winery is gravity-fed, and is surrounded by 130 acres of estate vines.

Lagar de Bezana Aluvion Gran Reserva
92 points & Cellar Selection ('10), Wine Enthusiast;
91 points ('10), Wine Spectator;
91 points ('08), Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar:
“Inky ruby. Smoky, highly perfumed aromas of cassis and fresh violet are complicated by a peaty, earthy quality. Broad and sappy on the palate, delivering pungent flavors of bitter cherry, singed plum, olive and cracked pepper. The smoke and violet notes carry through a long, spicy, sharply focused finish.”
Only 800 cases produced.

Lagar de Bezana Syrah Limited Edition
93 points & Editor's Choice ('08), Wine Enthusiast:
“Super pretty aromas of earth, balsam wood, coconut,
graphite and blackberry comprise the excellent bouquet. It feels full and shows great definition, with smoky dark-berry flavors and notes of licorice and pepper. It’s elegant on the finish for such a muscular, modern Syrah... One of Chile’s best Syrahs.”
Only 250 cases produced.
92 points & Top Wine ('10), Wine Spectator.
93 points ('07), Wine Advocate.
